Privacy Notice

Updated at 2026-07-22

SHIFT LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates Clear Cache Chrome — the Chrome extension and the website at clear-browser.com (collectively, the “Service”). This notice explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Summary

Chrome Web Store Data Categories

Consistent with the Chrome Web Store Privacy practices disclosure for Clear Cache Chrome, we handle the following categories of user data:

We do not use web history for advertising, profiling, or monetization of browsing data. Web history is used only for the extension’s user-facing clearing features described in the product UI and store listing.

Information Stored Locally in the Extension

Clear Cache Chrome stores your configuration and operational data locally in your browser using Chrome’s extension storage APIs. This includes cleanup presets, whitelist and domain patterns, automation schedules, and cleanup history logs (which may reference domains or patterns you configured). This data remains on your device unless you uninstall the extension or clear extension data. We do not sync this data to our servers.

Web History (On-Device Handling)

To provide its core clearing features, the extension may access web browsing activity on your device, including tab URLs and (when you grant the optional History permission) Chrome browsing history entries. Examples:

This access is required for the disclosed single purpose of clearing browser data. History and URL data used for these features are processed locally. We do not upload your browsing history or page URLs to SHIFT LLC servers, and we do not include specific domains or URLs in analytics events.

Accounts, Subscriptions, and Payments (Pro)

If you choose to upgrade to Pro, sign in, restore purchases, or manage a subscription, authentication and checkout are handled by our billing integration (Monetize.software) and its payment processors (e.g., Paddle, Stripe). We do not store your payment card numbers on our servers.

Through Monetize and related billing flows we may receive or process personally identifiable and account data such as:

Payment card and checkout details are processed according to the policies of our payment processors. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers.

What We Do Not Transmit From Cleanup Features

During routine cleanup or configuration we do not send to our servers or to analytics:

User Activity — Google Analytics (Extension and Utility Pages)

The extension sends anonymized usage and diagnostic events to Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) via Google’s Measurement Protocol. Selected pages on clear-browser.com (such as the post-install welcome page and uninstall feedback page) use Google Analytics via gtag with the same measurement property.

Data sent to Google Analytics may include:

Google may process technical request metadata according to its own policies (for example device/browser information) as part of delivering Analytics. We use Analytics only to measure, maintain, secure, and improve the extension’s disclosed features — not to build advertising profiles from your browsing history.

For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses data from sites or apps that use Google services. You can opt out of Google Analytics in Chrome via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by uninstalling the extension.

Limited Use

Our use of information received from Google APIs and other extension-related Google services adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Personally identifiable information, on-device web history handling, and product telemetry (Google Analytics) are limited to providing, maintaining, securing, and improving the disclosed single-purpose features of Clear Cache Chrome. We do not sell user data or use web browsing activity for personalized advertising.

Website

The public marketing website (clear-browser.com) is mostly static. Standard web server or CDN logs from our hosting provider may record technical data such as IP address, requested URL, and browser user agent.

If you use the contact form on the website, you voluntarily submit your name, email address, and message. Submissions are delivered to a Google Form operated by us and used only to respond to your inquiry.

Uninstall Feedback

If you uninstall the extension, Chrome may open our uninstall page on clear-browser.com, which includes an optional feedback survey (Google Forms). Participation is voluntary. The page may record an analytics event and, when configured by the extension, include the same anonymous client ID in the page URL for continuity. Any information you submit in the survey is governed by this notice and Google’s terms for Forms.

How We Use Information

Sharing

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service (such as Monetize.software, Paddle, and Stripe for billing, Google Analytics for usage analytics, and Google Forms for contact and feedback), and when required by law. We do not sell personal information. We do not share browsing history, page URLs, extension settings, or cleanup logs with third parties — those remain on your device (aside from the anonymized usage events described above, which never include specific URLs).

Data Retention and Security

Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics configuration. Contact and uninstall survey submissions are kept only as long as needed to handle your request or improve the product. Subscription records are retained as required for billing and legal compliance. Local extension data is deleted when you remove the extension or clear its storage. We use reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

International Transfers

Google, Monetize.software, our payment processors, and our hosting providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live (including the EEA under GDPR and California under CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at the email below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this notice from time to time. The “Updated at” date at the top reflects the latest version. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated notice.
